Improvements to Paid Time Off
Industry Wide Agreement Contract Summary | July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2034
Juneteenth
The new contract makes Juneteenth a new, paid holiday. This brings the IWA to a total of 10 paid holidays.
Improved bereavement benefits
Under the new agreement, paid bereavement leave will increase from 3 to 5 paid days. The new contract expands the definition of “immediate family” and eliminates the current limitation that you can only take paid bereavement leave once per year.

Fully paid parental leave
Under the new agreement, new parents can take fully paid parental leave in order to recover from delivery or bond with their child. The contract provides 12 additional weekly bridge payments (one for each week of leave) to eligible members who take Paid Family Leave through the State. These payments will bridge the difference between the Paid Family Leave benefit and your weekly wage so that you will receive full pay. This benefit relieves the financial pressure on new parents to return to work too quickly.

Paid voting time
The new contract provides members with up to 4 hours of paid time to vote in any local, state, or federal election. You must provide reasonable notice of your intent to use paid voting time, and the employer must accommodate your request, unless it will cause an undue disruption.
At a time in our country’s history when powerful interests are trying to disenfranchise working Americans, and voting has once again become more difficult, contractual rights like this are more important than ever before.
Voter registration
The new agreement also requires that you are offered the opportunity to register to vote during the employer’s orientation or at any time thereafter during non-working hours. This new contract provision, when combined with paid voting time, guarantees that hotel workers will continue to have a real voice in the political process.
