Protections against new technology
The new contract dramatically improves language that protects your job when the employer wants to introduce new technology or AI. Under the old IWA employers had the right to unilaterally implement new technology. That right has been eliminated and employers are now required to give 120 days notice and bargain with the union before any change can be implemented.
Immigrants’ rights
Our contract already has incredible protections for immigrants. The new agreement goes even further by requiring that during any hotel sale or change in control, the seller has to provide the new owner or operator with employee immigration documents – meaning that members won’t have to complete this paperwork again.
