Zumreta’s first union job was at the Concorde, where she and her coworkers fought for two years to win a union contract. After winning their first contract, Zumreta saw the true power of the union unfold. With the guidance of HTC Vice President & Business Agent Hazel Hazzard, Zumreta became a strong delegate. The more she learned, the deeper her appreciation for the union became. Zumreta recalls the moment when she first started volunteering with our union. She was invited to join a political canvassing event in Philadelphia, and that trip fueled her passion. Since then, she’s taken part in every HEAT event and union action she could. Recently, Zumreta joined the union as Rank-and-File Organizer (RFO). She says her perspective completely changed after working alongside the union’s staff: “Even as a delegate, I had no idea how hard the union staff was working behind the scenes. It has opened my eyes.”
