Tito Gonzalez
The St. Regis & The Plaza
Our union is saddened to announce the passing of Tito Gonzalez, a union member who worked at both the St. Regis and the Plaza over his decades-long career.
Tito was married to his wife, Carmen Gonzalez, for 58 wonderful years. Tito came from a large family, growing up with 3 brothers and 1 sister with whom he was very close.
Tito was athletic, and he would often play catcher in games at the Central Park fields. He found joy in fishing – rising before the sunrise in Montauk, Long Island, or “going to wake up the fish,” as his wife Carmen lovingly put it.
Tito maintained a collection of original albums from his favorite musical artists, including Mexican singer Carlos Gardel, Puerto Rican albums, and Merengue LPs.
He was also a talented chef who enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. He had perfected a difficult dish called “Cabrito Guisado,” and his specialty, “Ensalada de pulpo.”
“Tito was an outgoing man that knew everyone, and held his loved ones close. We miss him very much,” said Carmen.
