Husseini Adargo

Our brother Husseini Adargo, a steward at the Mandarin Oriental and proud union member for 22 years, has passed away.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Husseini was the prefect definition of a family man. Ana, his wife of 25 years, remembers her husband as a loving and caring man. “He was the same man at work as he was at home,” she said. “We’re a very close-knit family and he loved to take time off to go to his grandchildren’s events. He so enjoyed attending everything they were involved in. He was very much a homebody and he loved to be with his family to celebrate holidays.”

Eric Cromwell, a friend and coworker for 18 years, described Husseini as a gentle giant and a peacemaker. “He cared about all of us and wanted to make sure everyone around him was comfortable. If there was a misunderstanding at work, he brokered the peace and made sure everyone got along and kept the atmosphere cordial. Husseini was like a younger brother to me, we would often talk about our shared experiences as immigrants. Husseini never forgot where he came from. He started an informal welfare group to make sure that Ghanaian members in the hotel were all taking care of each other. He really pulled us together.”
