Kamlesh Paneri

RESORTS WORLD NYC

At 66 years old, Resorts World NYC Security Officer Kamlesh has completed a lifelong goal – trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp and participating in a spiritual pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet. The 25-day journey included travel to altitudes of over 22,000 feet, a 42km parikrama (religious circuit) around sacred mountains, and a dip in the holy waters of Mansarovar. Accompanied by his son and guided by Tibetan sherpas, Kamlesh overcame physical challenges like high-altitude sickness and extreme weather in what he describes as the most meaningful experience of his life.

A proud union member, Kamlesh was able to use his paid time off to pull off this journey – one that required months of preparation and international travel. Kamlesh brought a homemade union flag with him on the trek, and his coworkers, family, and union cheered him on from afar, inspired by his strength and determination.

"I wanted to represent my union on this journey. I wanted to share the global impact of a union that supports immigrant families."
