HTC proudly endorses Zohran Mamdani for NYC Mayor
Summer 2025On June 24, 2025, Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic Primary for NYC Mayor. Less than 48 hours later, he visited our union’s headquarters to ask for our support. He pledged to back up our members in the 2026 contract fight and make NYC more affordable for the working people who make it run.

In fights with management, Zohran Mamdani will be on our side.
As we head to the bargaining table next year, we want elected officials who we can count on if we are forced into a fight. Zohran Mamdani is that candidate. During the union’s mayoral forum in March, and again at our headquarters on June 26th, Mamdani committed to stand by our union during our city-wide contract negotiations next year. There’s no doubt that he will. At his core, he believes in the power of working people and un-like some of the other candidates, he has not taken any corporate donations – meaning he is not beholden to any hotel companies or union adversaries.

A campaign to make NYC more affordable for working people
Zohran Mamdani’s campaign is focusing on improving affordability and the quality of life for working people – the very same things we fight to deliver through our union contracts. As part of his campaign, Mamdani has laid out plans to make housing less expensive, lower food prices, cut childcare costs, and provide free buses.
“You are all shining examples of how working people can live a dignified life,” Zohran said to HTC members. “But that dignity is not given – it has to be won. You have won that dignity in contract negotiations – you've won it on picket lines, at rallies and press conferences– you win it every single day. What I am going to do as the next mayor of this City, is to win that dignity for every single New Yorker.”

“It would be an honor to have the support of the hardworking men and women of this union,” Zohran Mamdani told HTC members. “It would be an honor even more than that to have your partnership to make this the greatest city in the world so that every single New Yorker who builds it can afford to stay in it.”
