A major expansion of the Queens Health Center
Fall 2025One piece of HTC President Rich Maroko’s strategic plan for our union has been to level up our members’ healthcare and reduce delays. From adding a CityMD benefit to a major expansion of the Queens Health Center, we keep making progress.

The brand-new wing of the Queens Health Center is now open and serving union members and their families. The wing took over the old Industry Training Program (“ITP”) facility to provide much need ed clinical space and reduce wait times at the Benefit Fund’s busiest health center.
“We brought in new ultra-modern equipment and technology at every turn to increase both the capacity of our health centers and the level of our service we’re able to provide to our members... The new wing is the first leg in a larger plan to renovate the Queens Health Center. The space isn’t just functional, but beautiful."
– DR. DAVID JACOBSON, Chief Executive Officer of the Employee Benefit Funds
“The new wing of the Queens Health Center is a stunning example of what we can achieve when we win strong union contracts... When our Industry-Wide Agreement in NYC expires next summer, you can be sure that the full force of our union will be fighting to protect our members’ free family healthcare at facilities like the Queens Health Center.”

17 new state-of-the-art exam rooms
The new wing contains 17 brand-new exam rooms. At our busiest health center, the new exam rooms will significantly increase clinical space, allowing the Benefit Funds to create more appointment time slots, hire more doctors, and reduce wait times. Specialty care, including cardiology, podiatry, and OB-GYN, will move into this new wing, freeing up space throughout the existing Health Center for additional uses.
A brand-new pharmacy
The Queens Health Center pharmacy has moved to the new wing on the first floor, making it more convenient to pick up prescriptions. The new pharmacy space is 50% larger and uses technology to speed up the turnaround time for prescriptions. The pharmacy will be able to fill over 900 prescriptions each day.
