Donna McCammon
Room Attendant | Resort World Casino NYC & the Surrey
It is with a heavy heart that our union announces the passing of Donna McCammon, a Room Attendant at Resorts World Casino NYC, a former employee of the Surrey hotel, and a member of the Local 6 Delegate Assembly.
Donna was a driven delegate and a dedicated member of our union for 23 years. “Donna was a strong delegate who was always getting things done,” said Beverly Watt, a fellow Room Attendant at Resorts World Casino.
“You never had to ask Donna twice about coming out to a union event. She was dedicated to keeping our union strong as a delegate and she showed up for our union at dozens of events over the years. We were so lucky to have her as part of our union family,” shared Samantha Klein, the union's General Organizer.
Donna was an adventurous spirit who deeply loved to travel. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and oldies, baking, cooking, and watching football. Donna also loved to go shopping, especially with her friends. “We both loved to shop together,” said Beverly. “We used to order things for each other.”
Most of all, Donna cherished her family. She is survived by her four daughters, her sons-in-law, and four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. “They meant the world to her,” described her daughter, Jaycia.
Donna worked extremely hard to give her children opportunities and was so proud that all four of her daughters graduated from college.
Donna’s generosity and compassion were well known by family, friends, and coworkers. “She was such a giving person,” described Jaycia. “We really miss her big heart and her laughter.”
