Union Victory: NJ Governor agrees to expand vaccine eligibility to include hospitality workers

March 2, 2021 9:15 AM

On Monday, March 1st, Governor Phil Murphy announced that hospitality workers in New Jersey will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning on March 29th. HTC President Rich Maroko and our political team have been advocating for vaccine eligibility for hotel workers in New Jersey and are thrilled by this announcement.

“Today’s announcement by Governor Murphy is an important recognition of the essential work our members have been doing since March of last year: housing and serving out of area travelers, healthcare workers, and other at-risk populations” commented HTC President Rich Maroko, “With access to the vaccine, our members can soon feel much safer on the job.”

This news comes just days after New York expanded eligibility for hotel workers.

Supply of the vaccine is still very limited. New Jersey residents can pre-register with the State by clicking here and filling out the NJ COVID-19 Vaccine Registration form. This does not schedule an appointment. Once you are eligible, the State’s system will notify you and prompt you to make an appointment. You can also look for vaccine appointments at other locations near you, using this list.
