Queens Health Center to Undergo Major Upgrade
The Queens Health Center will undergo major renovations starting this August. The redesign will modernize every single area of the building, from the lobby, to the pharmacy, to the meeting room spaces, to dental, to the building’s exterior. The plans include the creation of more clinical rooms, the expansion of ultrasound rooms for diagnostic imaging, and new state of the art radiology equipment. It also entails the expansion of the physical therapy clinical area by 20%.
The results will be transformative creating more appointment time slots, alleviating wait times, improving pharmacy access, and enhancing the quality of care with novel equipment.
The Queens Health Center will remain operational during the renovations. All healthcare services will continue without interruption.
Hiring More Health Center Staff
Introducing a Health Center Concierge
In 2023, the Funds introduced a new position, the “Members Experience Associate.” The role gives members an easy one stop point of contact for questions, concerns, and feedback at each of the health centers.
CityMD Access
In 2023, the Funds announced a partnership with CityMD that allows members on the Industry Health Plan to access 150 CityMD urgent care clinics at any hour, all across the City, for free. Since May of last year, there have been over 25,000 visits to CityMD.
Expanded Hours
The Funds expanded pharmacy hours to 8 am – 5:45 pm. The pharmacies now allow physicians to order 90-day refills for many medications and provide common vaccines for quick and convenient access.
Oral Surgery Suite Opens
The brand new oral surgery suite at 14 Penn Plaza is now servicing individuals on the Industry Health Plan. In the first 15 months that it’s been open, over 23,000 procedures have been performed on site.
Eliminating Eligibility Hurdles
The Union negotiated with the Industry to get your employers to submit payroll data weekly - instead of once per month. This change has eliminated many eligibility issues that caused gaps in coverage.
New Partnerships
Cancer Treatment: The Funds have a new partnership agreement in place with Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Care2U
Individuals on the Industry Health Plan who are referred by their doctors have access to emergency care at home via Care2U. Care2U provides physician assessments, in-home oxygen, blood work, wound care, X-rays, IV fluids and medication, EKGs, and more.
