NJ and Upstate delegates spend the day in NYC
95 of our newer delegates from New Jersey and the capital region of New York saw firsthand some of HTC's impressive accomplishments during a day in NYC. They and their coworkers are among the more than 2,500 hotel and gaming workers the Hotel Trades Council now represents in those regions.
HTC and Local 6 Unity Slates Elected by Acclamation
On September 4, 2024, the HTC and Local 6 Unity Slates were elected by acclamation.
The Unity slates were composed of the very Union leaders who protected our members during the pandemic – and pushed our Union to new heights over the past three years. Del Lago Casino Workers Win Contract
HTC has won a contract for the nearly 1,000 union-represented employees at del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, NY. The casino signed onto the Greater Regional Industry Wide Agreement, or GRIWA, which is the HTC contract for the region. At the ratification, union representatives, including, lawyers, business agents and organizers, met with workers to review the contract in detail, in order to allow employees to cast their vote in an informed and democratic manner.
Employers cheat and abuse low wage workers
Employers regularly underpay, cheat, and otherwise abuse workers in low-wage, non-union positions, according to a recent study documenting the experiences of more than 4,300 low-wage workers in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
