June 25 2020 6:41 PM

Tuesday’s primary election in New York was one of the most unusual elections many of us have experienced in our lifetimes, and I’m proud to report that our Union yet again played an outsized role in some of the most important races that were held.

The coronavirus pandemic has been, without a doubt, the most difficult challenge our union and its members have ever faced. The Union’s leadership and staff have risen to this challenge by identifying and making every possible effort we can take to address the hardships our members face. But, we also haven’t lost sight of the external world, where elections and legislative activity have the potential to impact us for years to come. Read more...

Mensaje de Peter Ward: Se llega a un nuevo Acuerdo para prorrogar el Contrato para Toda la Industria

Why de Blasio’s the Candidate for Working Families

Throughout most of the last century, if you had a job at a manufacturing plant, it was hard work, but it also meant stability and opportunity. Whether you worked with steel, textiles, rubber or any of the industries that fueled America's economy, it meant you could have a house, a car and the ability to put food on the table for your family.

While many of those jobs no longer exist, their legacy of unionized work creating a pathway to the middle class lives on in the hotel industry. Hotel workers are the modern-day manufacturing plant worker.

A Look Back at 2019 and a Look Ahead to 2020

Hotel Voice, February 19, 2020 - As we look ahead to 2020 let’s also take a last look back at some of the significant events in our union during 2019. It’s a good reminder of what can be accomplished through our solidarity and determination. This was particularly impressive when one realizes that at the time this increase was announced the HTC pension was already the largest pension anywhere in the hotel industry.

Union wins extended healthcare in Division A hotels

March 31, 2020 11:00 AM

On the evening of Monday, March 30th, the arbitrator ruled that his previous decision on the extension of health benefits for HTC-represented workers, does indeed apply to Division A hotels in the same way it applies to IWA shops.  As some of you may know, some Division A hotels have already recognized the fact that they need to, along with shops that fall under the IWA contract, extend health benefits for their unionized employees. The Union went back to the arbitrator with the position that the decision should cover all Division A hotels. The arbitrator agreed with the union’s position. Congratulations to HTC-represented workers at these hotels.
