After fierce battles with the Hilton Hotel Corporation, hotel workers at UNITE HERE locals in Chicago, San Francisco, and Honolulu have won new contracts. Union hotel workers picket D.C.‘s Madison Hotel

Members of Unite Here Local 25 who work at the Madison Hotel in Washington, D.C., have been picketing the hotel since Monday, January 31, 2011. They are protesting the new owner's refusal to honor their existing union contract, which covers 150 workers. Twenty-five workers have been laid off since Jamestown, an asset investment and management company headquartered in Atlanta, took over the hotel on January 19.

Local 5 (Hawaii) wins contract with Starwood and Hilton

On March 14, Local 6's sister union in Hawaii, Local 5 Unite Here, agreed to a three-year contract with Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, after workers voted to authorize a strike. The contract covers 2,800 union members at the Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Westin Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Maui and Sheraton Kauai.
