A Message from the Benefit Funds: Your IRS Form 1095B Statement

In the middle of next month (January, 2016) the Benefits Fund office will be mailing to all members a letter and a tax form that require your attention. Telephone visits available for workers covered by Industry-Wide Benefit Plan

April 3, 2020 2:51 PM

As you know, the Industry-Wide Benefit Plan canceled all non-emergent doctor appointments at the Health Centers. This safety measure was taken in order to limit healthy patients’ exposure to the novel coronavirus, and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

We are happy to announce that the Benefit Plan has set up the technology and infrastructure to schedule non-urgent primary care medical appointments as telephone visits. For any HTC represented workers, covered by the Industry-Wide Benefit plan—and your dependents— you can now schedule a telephone visit for any internal medicine, family practice, and pediatric providers.

What happens when the emergency funding of the Benefit Funds ends in January?

On September 11th, the Union won an arbitration that requires most hotels covered by the IWA and Division A contracts to provide three additional months of healthcare coverage to workers who have been laid off due to the pandemic. In addition to bringing peace of mind to nearly 30,000 members and their families, the decision provides critical funding to the health benefit funds for the rest of 2020.

“This emergency funding will allow us to run the health centers at full capacity for the rest of the year” said Dr. Jacobson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Funds. “I am very thankful that the Union was able to secure additional funding during this crisis. Without the emergency funding, there is no doubt we would have already had to scale back our operations.” Read more...
