NYS offers free antibody testing for food delivery and restaurant workers

The New York State Department of Health has extended free COVID-19 antibody testing for food delivery and restaurant workers through Saturday, June 6.

If you work in New York State and in food and beverage, and would like to be tested, the following testing sites are open from 10:00am-5:30pm daily until Saturday, June 6 (with the exception of John Jay College, Lehman College, and New York Institute of Technology testing sites, which will close at 5 PM). Hotels keep going up: what does this mean for HTC members?

Despite an unprecedented surge of hotel-building in the city from 2008 through 2010, an additional 40 hotels are already scheduled for completion by 2013. A significant number of these new hotels are (or will be) non-union and determined to remain that way. College Scholarships Awarded to 22 High School Seniors

There haven't been many good news items in 2020, with the COVID-19 crisis leaving so many of our union's members out of work, but the annual scholarship awards for this year can give all of us hope for the future. A total of $264,000 has been awarded to 22 promising students who are children of our union's members. Congratulations to these scholars and to their parents!

Let’s Look at the Issues

This week, the Supreme Court struck down the section of the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965 that makes changes in voting procedures in certain states and individual counties subject to immediate legal review and mandatory rectification. The Court said Congress was always free to address any voter suppression through legislation.

This Year's Union Scholarship Awards

They want to be researchers, social workers, lawyers, teachers and doctors. They will be going to schools like CUNY's legendary Macaulay Honors College, Stony Brook, Harvard, Tulane, St. John's, and Stanford. They have been active in their communities and they have performed good works like volunteering at nursing homes and delivering Meals on Wheels.
