Peter Ward and the entire HTC administration have been re-elected to office by acclamation. The administration will serve a three-year term of office.
"It is certainly evident that our union faces unprecedented challenges right now," Peter Ward said. "I am confident that our administration has the best people possible to help steer our union through this exceedingly difficult time, and I thank HTC members for this vote of confidence in the re-election of the HTC Unity slate. You can count on us to work tirelessly and to do everything possible to return you to your jobs and to restore our industry to where it was before COVID-19 struck. It will take a monumental effort to achieve this goal, but I assure all that this administration is ready to make that effort."

HTC negotiates first contract in New Jersey
Workers at the Sheraton Mahwah have unanimously ratified their first contract negotiated by the Hotel Trades Council. The ratification vote took place on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, and the excellent new collective bargaining agreement was approved by a vote of 67 in favor of the contract, and 0 opposed.

Local 6 Business Manager Peter Ward and the Local 6 administration were re-elected to office by acclamation at a Delegate Assembly meeting on September 15. Ward and his team will serve a three-year term in office.

Members Rally With Governor Cuomo and Bon Jovi to Raise the Minimum Wage
On Thursday June 11th, hundreds of HTC members were joined by dozens of activists from other unions and local community groups at the Hotel Trades Council’s Manhattan Headquarters for a rally to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers, organized by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Zackery Sandstrom, Metropolitan Club
We are saddened by the loss of Zachery Sandstrom, a bartender at the Metropolitan Club for over 18 years. Known by many as simply “Zac,” he was a loving father, grandfather and husband. Zac was a native of Chadron, Nebraska, who moved to New York as a young man, who eventually became a beloved figure at the Metropolitan Club where he was known as the “glue” that held people together, leaving a lasting impression on his coworkers and the members at the Club.
His friend and coworker, club waiter Jose Collado, recalls that Zac knew every single member no matter where they were from. “He was loved by everyone at the Club,” said Jose. “To be a good bartender, you have to have a good memory, know a lot of stories and be a skill conversationalist, so Zac was very good at his job. Members would come in and saying, ‘I want a martini, but I want Zac to make it.’”
