NYC Residents: Meet with MetroPlus about your healthcare options

Our Union has arranged for agents from MetroPlus (a city-operated, not-for-profit healthcare plan) to meet with union workers who are losing their healthcare in the coming months to discuss their healthcare options.
On December 17th, New York State extended the deadline to apply for a state healthcare program or qualified healthcare plan until December 31st for coverage beginning on January 1st. There is no corner of the globe where this pandemic hasn’t spread. And while we all share many common hardships, we also each feel the impact on a personal and individual level.
For our Union, and our members, we find ourselves in the midst of what are undoubtedly the darkest days in the 82-year history of our Union. Our industry is almost entirely closed down, something that has never happened before — not during the Great Depression of the 1930s, not during the world wars, and not after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. NJ and Upstate delegates spend the day in NYC
95 of our newer delegates from New Jersey and the capital region of New York saw firsthand some of HTC's impressive accomplishments during a day in NYC. They and their coworkers are among the more than 2,500 hotel and gaming workers the Hotel Trades Council now represents in those regions.
Union Wins A Contract For the Evelyn Hotel Employees
HTC has won a contract for the 41 employees of the Evelyn Hotel. The workers unanimously ratified the contract on January 11, 2017. Now, their working lives have drastically improved thanks to the terms and conditions provided for in the Industry Wide Agreement (IWA).
Union Wins Contract at Hilton Newark Airport Hotel
After tough negotiations with both hotel ownership and the Hilton corporation, the hotel eventually signed onto the Greater Regional Industry Wide Agreement, which is the HTC contract for the area.
