Union Wins More Back Pay at the St. Regis

There’s lots of back pay for employees at the St. Regis in the photos seen here. In the top photo are some of the room attendants who recently received a total of $40,407. This amount was in addition to the $159,000 in back pay received by St. Regis room attendants that was reported in the August 26 edition of Hotel Voice.

Union Wins Back Pay for W Times Square Trio

$173,000 in back pay for St. Regis butlers

Twenty-two butlers in the housekeeping department at the St. Regis recently received sizable checks from their hotel in settlement of a grievance the union filed on their behalf. On the same day the arbitration hearing before the Impartial Chairperson was to begin, the hotel entered into the voluntary settlement agreement with the union.

Union Wins $91,000 in Back Pay at Lexington Hotel

Members of the bell staff at the Lexington are $91,000 richer this week, courtesy of back pay won for them by the Union because of a contract violation.

Union Wins $120,000 in Back Pay at Millennium Broadway

It was a happy week for 91 room attendants at the Millennium Broadway, as you can see in this photo. They are receiving checks for back pay totaling up to $120,000. The money was obtained by the Union and divided equally among the room attendants after management had been found scheduling shifts improperly.

As Hotel Voice reported several weeks ago the Union reached agreement with the New Yorker Hotel that called for a group of 44 workers to receive a total of a half-million dollars in back pay. The failure of management at the New York Athletic Club to pay overnight employees the meal allowance they were entitled to have resulted in Local 6 taking up the case.

An agreement between the Union and the New Yorker Hotel will result in raises and $500,000 in back pay, along with ironclad layoff protections for 44 current employees in building repairs/renovations and property operations. The employees overwhelmingly ratified the deal in a vote held on February 11, 2014.
