Local 6 Wins $80,000 in Back Pay at the New York Athletic Club
The failure of management at the New York Athletic Club to pay overnight employees the meal allowance they were entitled to have resulted in Local 6 taking up the case. The result was a settlement agreement that provided over $80,000 in back pay to a total of 21 employees. Equally important, the problem has been rectified going forward, reports Local 6 Vice President Rolando Ruiz, who handled the case. Ruiz is seen here, with some of the affected employees at the club, as the checks for back pay were being distributed.
