3,000 HTC-represented casino workers return to work, many to even better jobs than before

In early September, after nearly six months of being shuttered due to COVID-19, New York Governor Cuomo permitted the state’s casinos to reopen at 25% capacity and 3,000 unionized casino workers returned to work.

While non-union hotel and gaming workers across the country face hazardous working conditions amidst COVID-19, HTC-represented casino workers are in the very rare position where their protections on the job have gotten stronger and their wages and benefits have improved during the pandemic. Resorts World Catskills Workers Vote Overwhelmingly to Ratify Their New Contract!

On Monday, March 30th, the workers at Resorts World Catskills ratified their second HTC contract through an online secret ballot vote. An overwhelming majority of 98% voted in favor or the agreement.

Negotiated before the Coronavirus outbreak, Resorts World Catskills signed onto the Greater Industry Wide Agreement (GRIWA), our union’s landmark master contract for upstate New York, Northern New Jersey and the suburbs of New York City. The GRIWA provides much needed security to the workers at Resorts World Catskills during this extremely difficult time in our country, securing rights, wages and benefits until March 31, 2023. 

HTC Wins Contract For Candlewood Suites Nanuet Employees

HTC has won a contract for the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Driver and Maintenance employees at the Candlewood Suites Nanuet. Union employees are now covered by the Greater Regional Industry Wide Agreement and has also agreed to the successor GRIWA negotiated by the Union.
