HTC Wins a Contract at the Beekman Hotel

HTC won a contract for 59 employees at the Beekman Hotel. They are now covered by the Industry Wide Agreement (“IWA”), which covers nearly 35,000 hotel employees across NYC. On September 19th, 2017, the employees unanimously voted to ratify the contact. The contract provides guaranteed wage increases through 2026, free family health care and a pension for union employees, along with the many other benefits provided for in the IWA. News of the immediate and retroactive wage increases and free health benefits made for a cheerful and joyous ratification. HTC Vice President and General Counsel, Richard Maroko, stated, “Union hotel jobs continue to be a pathway to the middle class in NY and NJ and this is a prime example of such.” Housekeeping employees will be earning nearly $40 per hour by the end of the contract.
