$500,000 in Back Pay Distributed at the New Yorker
As Hotel Voice reported several weeks ago the Union reached agreement with the New Yorker Hotel that called for a group of 44 workers to receive a total of a half-million dollars in back pay. We are happy to report that the money was distributed recently, to the smiles and cheers of these members who are employed in building repairs/renovations and property operations.
$173,000 in back pay for St. Regis butlers
Twenty-two butlers in the housekeeping department at the St. Regis recently received sizable checks from their hotel in settlement of a grievance the union filed on their behalf. On the same day the arbitration hearing before the Impartial Chairperson was to begin, the hotel entered into the voluntary settlement agreement with the union.

HTC Members Support Taj Mahal Strikers
Workers at Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal went on strike on July 1, after repeated attempts to achieve a fair contract were unsuccessful. Hotel Trades Council staff and members have been supporting the Taj Mahal strikers on the picket line every day.
Springhill Suites Newark Airport Ratifies First Contract
On May 5, 2015, workers at the Springhill Suites Newark Liberty International Airport Hotel unanimously ratified their first union contract. This is a major victory for our the workers at this hotel, who will see an immediate improvement in their working conditions. The contract took effect immediately, and will remain in effect until March 31st, 2018.
100% ratification at the Night Hotel
Employees at the Night Hotel on West 45th Street are delighted after they voted unanimously on March 4, 2011, to approve their first union contract and it's an excellent one.
Union “YES!” at the Ludlow Hotel – HTC Wins with 97% of the Vote
Despite a nasty anti-union campaign by management, the workers of the Ludlow Hotel, on Ludlow and East Houston Streets in Lower Manhattan, have voted by a rather unambiguous majority in favor of HTC and have now won the priceless right to negotiate. The vote was conducted by the National Labor Relations Board on August 20, 2015.
Local 5 (Hawaii) wins contract with Starwood and Hilton
On March 14, Local 6's sister union in Hawaii, Local 5 Unite Here, agreed to a three-year contract with Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, after workers voted to authorize a strike. The contract covers 2,800 union members at the Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Westin Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Maui and Sheraton Kauai.
