I am pleased to report that, late last night, and after arduous negotiations over the last few days, we were able to finalize an agreement with the Hotel Association that (1) continues healthcare for an additional month for members covered by the IWA and Division A contracts and (2) extends the Coronavirus Safety Protocol Agreement for the duration of this public health crisis.

Health Centers Receive National Recognition for Providing High Quality Diabetes Care
Congratulations are once again in order for our Union’s Health Centers! Already recognized by the City of New York’s Department of Health for an outstanding program to help members stop smoking, the Health Centers recently earned another prestigious distinction. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) has announced that the Health Centers have received recognition for providing high quality care to patients with diabetes.
New York extends deadline to apply for health insurance starting January 1
The New York State of Health has announced an extension to the deadline to apply for healthcare coverage beginning on January 1st. New York residents now have until December 31st to apply for Medicaid, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, or any Qualified Health Plan (including those provided by MetroPlus) for coverage beginning January 1, 2021.

If your healthcare coverage with the Industry-Wide Benefits Fund is coming to an end on December 31st and you are enrolling in a new healthcare plan, your new health insurance provider may ask you for a letter showing that your healthcare coverage is ending.
