The annual Seniors’ Days health awareness event will take place at the Health Centers next week, Tuesday, May 9 through Friday, May 12 — one day in each of the four Health Centers, and no appointments are necessary.

We would once again like to remind members that flu shots are available to all members and their families at the Union’s Health Centers. Should you get a flu shot? Yes! Anyone who wishes to reduce his or her risk of getting the flu this year should be vaccinated. The truth is that there is no better way to avoid getting the flu than to get the annual vaccine. That’s because flu shots really can be effective in preventing the flu and the vaccines being administered by the Health Centers are the best ones available; they will prevent most strains of the illness, including the bird flu.

Division A Members Ratify Contract Extension
A large number of Hotel Trades Council Division A members voted overwhelmingly on October 15 to approve a contract extension similar to the extension of the IWA approved in June by their brother and sister HTC members employed in non-Division A hotels.

City Council Hearing on Illegal Hotels Draws Huge Turnout
Hundreds of members of our Union were joined by many members of the public at a January 20th New York City Council hearing regarding the law that prohibits people from renting out their apartments for under 30 days.
HTC supports 32BJ at rally for fair contract
On April 2nd, nearly 600 HTC members marched up Park Avenue with several other unions to show solidarity with 32BJ and their demand for a fair contract. The property service union’s contract expires on April 20th. With 32BJ's 70,000 NYC members facing increasing costs of living, the new contract would ensure that these union members will continue to provide for their families.
