Doorpersons and bellpersons overwhelmingly ratify porterage agreement
An agreement between the Union and the Hotel Association will result in higher earnings for hundreds of members of door and bell staffs at non-residential hotels that do group trade. The agreement was ratified overwhelmingly in a secret ballot vote held on Thursday, September 12. A total of 285 members — or 98 percent of those who cast ballots — voted in favor of the agreement.

A total of 35 graduating high school seniors received $280,000 in college grant money this year, and the program overall has now awarded a total of $7,080,000 to 885 students since its inception.

On May 5, 2017, the union was able to resolve the matter with both management companies at the Saratoga Hilton. Members ratified a settlement agreement that makes them whole for lost gratuities.
