As you know, normally, if you are laid off or leave your job, your healthcare coverage ends unless you buy continuing COBRA coverage. Fortunately, during the Coronavirus crisis, our Union has been able to make the employers to pay the cost of continuing to provide health coverage to the tens of thousands of our members who have been laid off.
While your Union is trying to extend benefits even further, there is little question that the additional funding for employees who are not working is going to end before the industry gets completely back on its feet. In his victory speech he said that Tea Party people love the Second Amendment. He said this right after another madman had killed six innocent people in Santa Barbara, California, in still another episode of senseless gun violence.

James Brady died this week. For the last 30 years the former White House press secretary was the country’s most well known advocate for gun safety legislation. He had every reason to be. That’s because he himself was a victim of gun violence. He was critically injured in 1981 by a crazed gunman, John Hinckley Jr., who was trying to impress a woman he had never met, actress Jodie Foster, by assassinating Brady’s boss, President Ronald Reagan.
