Hundreds of HTC members attended Mayor Bill de Blasio's rally in Albany on Tuesday March 4th, to urge New York State legislators to vote in favor of de Blasio's plan for Universal Pre-K.

Elected delegates will be nominating and electing officers of UNITE HERE at the UNITE HERE Convention.
Members Rally and Lobby in Albany for Pre-K
The Union sent busloads of members to Albany on March 4 to rally and lobby for Universal Pre-K, an education component that New Yorkers sorely need. Members met at the Union at 6:00 a.m. and then boarded the buses for the trip up to the state capitol. Once in Albany, they attended a rally where they were joined by members of other unions as well as people from many community organizations, religious congregations and non-profit groups.

In Memoriam: Tony Karasis
Local 6 lost a dedicated member and longtime friend this month with the death of Antonios “Tony” Karasis. He was 87 years old.

As the health industry moves toward engaging and encouraging patients to take control of their own health matters, the Employee Benefit Funds will be releasing a “patient portal” during the last week in March. A patient portal is a secure website that patients can use to view and interact with their medical information via the Internet.

As an appropriate prelude to this week’s Eat Well, Be Well, Feel Well health awareness event, the Health Centers observed Kick Butts Day last week, seen here at the Midtown Health Center, providing encouragement and assistance to members who want to quit smoking.
