NYC People’s Climate March Draws 400,000

A good-sized group of Hotel Trades Council members was among the crowd of the almost 400,000 people that turned out for the People’s Climate March in the city this week. Members met up at 56th Street and joined the march down to 34th Street in a demonstration of common cause that was more than impressive.

Judicial decision on ownership of disputed Tavern assets nears

The U.S. bankruptcy judge presiding over the Tavern on the Green bankruptcy case said he would rule on the ownership of a number of disputed items prior to the start of the three-day auction, which is to begin January 12, at 1pm.

CDC issues nationwide eviction moratorium through March 31, 2021

Early on during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a broad nationwide eviction moratorium in order to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. On his first day in office, President Biden extended the CDC’s eviction moratorium through March 31, 2021.

Under the moratorium, eligible tenants cannot be evicted for nonpayment of rent until March 31, 2021. Please note: the order does not forgive rent. You are still obligated to pay rent, and can still be evicted after the order expires or for reasons other than nonpayment. Read more...
