Peter Ward and HTC Administration are Re-elected

Peter Ward and the entire HTC administration have been re-elected to office by acclamation. The administration will serve a three-year term of office.

"It is certainly evident that our union faces unprecedented challenges right now," Peter Ward said. "I am confident that our administration has the best people possible to help steer our union through this exceedingly difficult time, and I thank HTC members for this vote of confidence in the re-election of the HTC Unity slate. You can count on us to work tirelessly and to do everything possible to return you to your jobs and to restore our i­­ndustry to where it was before COVID-19 struck. It will take a monumental effort to achieve this goal, but I assure all that this administration is ready to make that effort."

Retired Members Applaud Seniors’ Days 2015

This year’s Seniors’ Days drew high praise from the almost 700 retired or near-retirement members who participated. The event was well attended at each of the four Health Centers, showing that members who are seniors and those approaching retirement have grown to really appreciate its benefits.

Historic telegrams found at union

Recently, a union staff member discovered four historic telegrams, dating back to March 1965, documenting our union's early involvement in the civil rights movement. The telegrams were sent by our union at the request of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. after the murder, in Selma, Alabama, of Rev. James Reeb by a racist white mob.

New York City Observes 103rd Anniversary of Triangle Fire

On March 25 the City of New York looked back at the tragic events that took place 103 years ago in a sweatshop known as the Triangle Shirtwaist factory. A crowd of 500 took part in the observance, which was held at the site of the tragedy.
