Groundbreaking for the New Queens Health Center Takes Place

 The groundbreaking for the new Queens Health Center took place on January 15. When it opens in 2021 it will be the most advanced facility of its kind, surpassing even the Brooklyn Health Center, which has drawn rave reviews from members and medical professionals alike. Present for the groundbreaking were Mayor Bill de Blasio, Comptroller Scott Stringer, City Council President Corey Johnson, City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and other representatives of New York City government, the Hotel Association and the union.

There is no corner of the globe where this pandemic hasn’t spread. And while we all share many common hardships, we also each feel the impact on a personal and individual level.

For our Union, and our members, we find ourselves in the midst of what are undoubtedly the darkest days in the 82-year history of our Union. Our industry is almost entirely closed down, something that has never happened before — not during the Great Depression of the 1930s, not during the world wars, and not after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Aching Dogs Theater: Theater Industry Likes What It Saw

They are still talking about the last production staged by Aching Dogs Theater, the Hotel Trades Council’s program for members who are actors, writers and directors. The purpose of the program is to give these members of our Union a chance to meet with their peers, rehearse scenes, try out new material and, once or twice a year, present their work on stage before a live audience.

Laid Off Members Can Now Access Funds On Their HRA Cards!

Starting September 1st, Union members who are laid off can use the balance on their HRA cards to help pay for medical expenses incurred since January 1, 2021. Read more...
