Just yesterday, support for the New York City Safe Hotels Act reached a supermajority in the NYC Council.
The Safe Hotels Act would provide some of the health and safety protections that we’ve won in our Union’s contracts like panic buttons, daily room cleaning, and security protections to all NYC hotel workers and would curb the use of exploitive subcontracting agencies in most hotels. Read more...

Stronger Contract Enforcement
Enforcing our contracts is already one of our Union’s strengths - with thousands of grievances resolved each year. But we’re striving to do even better.
Our Union is launching six initiatives designed to help us find more contract violations and resolve them more quickly. From providing delegate trainings to hiring more enforcement staff to developing brand-new, custom technology, we looked for ways to modernize our enforcement operation at every step in the grievance process. Over the last few years, our Union has reimagined the role our Union can play in the issues that affect our members outside of work - issues like the rising cost of child care, the lack of affordable housing, and immigration. Queens Health Center to Undergo Major Upgrade
The Queens Health Center will undergo major renovations starting this August. The redesign will modernize every single area of the building, from the lobby, to the pharmacy, to the meeting room spaces, to dental, to the building’s exterior. The plans include the creation of more clinical rooms, the expansion of ultrasound rooms for diagnostic imaging, and new state of the art radiology equipment. It also entails the expansion of the physical therapy clinical area by 20%. Read more...

When HTC President Rich Maroko announced our Union’s strategic plan last year, we were just months away from the expiration of the GRIWA and Upstate Casino contracts. Those negotiations were tough – but in the end, we left the bargaining table with landmark contracts that dramatically increased wages, protected benefits, and established brand new funds and rights that will pave the way for our Union’s future.
