2013 Hotel Workers Walkathon Raises Cash for Children’s Aid Society
Hundreds of New York City hotel industry employees made lives better for children by participating in the 22nd annual Hotel Workers Walkathon earlier this month. The money raised by the event will benefit a the renowned non-profit organization, the Children’s Aid Society.
Retired Members Applaud Seniors’ Days 2015
This year’s Seniors’ Days drew high praise from the almost 700 retired or near-retirement members who participated. The event was well attended at each of the four Health Centers, showing that members who are seniors and those approaching retirement have grown to really appreciate its benefits.

The Benefit Funds recently sent out a Pension Payment Verification letter. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, this form will not be required this year. Please disregard the letter. If you want to apply for one of the public healthcare programs in New York State, you can apply online, by phone, and in-person at the Queens, Brooklyn, and Harlem Health Centers and the Benefit Fund’s office at 305 West 44th Street.

Affordable Care Act Regulation Will Affect COBRA Notices
Suggested guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Labor as a result of a provision in the Affordable Care Act—often called Obamacare—will change COBRA notice requirements. This means that members and their families will be notified of a choice they can make when they lose their healthcare benefits for any reason including the loss of employment. For this reason, this is a very important issue for all members to understand.
