As a result, our region is slowly coming back to life and with it, the tourism industry is gradually reopening. Dozens of union hotels have announced soft reopenings this summer and over 60% of our members in the casinos have already been recalled.

On February 17th, a delegation of over 100 HTC members attended the New York State Democratic Convention at the invitation of Governor Kathy Hochul. The convention, held at the Sheraton Times Square, is where the state Democratic Party nominates candidates for statewide elected positions such as governor, attorney general, comptroller, and lieutenant governor. HTC members are back out on the front lines in a swing state, knocking on doors to help elect pro-union Democratic candidates in Pennsylvania. On October 17th, 2022, thirteen HTC members, drove down to Philadelphia to join over 300 members of the international union UNITE HERE in canvassing for Senate candidate John Fetterman and Gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro. In a historic day for our Union and its members and their families, ground was broken on March 19 for the new Brooklyn Health Center. When it opens less than two years from now, it will be the absolute best facility of its kind anywhere in the country.

On Tuesday, June 7th, Rob Menendez Jr. won the Democratic Primary for New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District in a landslide victory, taking more than 83% of the vote.
