More Than 4,700 Members Took Part in Women’s Health Week

In 2004 Hotel Voice reported the good news that more than 1,500 members participated in the first Women’s Health Awareness Week. Things have really changed since then, with more than 4,700 members participating in the event this year. And that’s great news once again because the good health of our members and their families is a primary goal of the union.
Can I receive payment for my paid time off to extend my healthcare?

Before this pandemic, under the long-standing rules of the Industry-Wide Benefit Plan, covered employees were eligible for healthcare if they worked enough hours (functions in the case of banquet servers) or as part of a severance package. Laid off workers were generally not eligible and payment of accrued time off typically did not extend their eligibility for healthcare.
However, to meet this emergency, on August 25th, HTC President Rich Maroko convened a special meeting of the trustees of the Funds and convinced the trustees to amend the plan so that payment of paid time off would extend healthcare coverage. Men’s Health Week Draws More than 3,300 Visitors
This year’s Men’s Health Week drew 3,363 visitors, to the delight of Health and Dental Center staff members who called it further evidence that members are paying attention to health issues.

Health Centers closing early on Friday, June 19th

Please be advised, all four Health Centers will be closing at 1:00 PM this Friday, June 19th. The Hotel Employee Benefit Funds Central Offices, located at 305 W. 44th Street, will also be closing at 1:00 PM this Friday, June 19th.
The pharmacies at the Midtown Health Center and at the Queens Health Center will be open on Saturday, June 20th. The new pharmacy hours are as follows:
Saturdays:
Midtown and Queens: OPEN 9:00AM-5:00PM
Harlem and Brooklyn: CLOSED
Sundays:
All Pharmacies CLOSED
