Our union expands into New Jersey and Upstate
During the past six months, our union has assumed a major new role as the collective bargaining representative for more than 2,500 additional hotel and gaming workers in 32 shops in northern New Jersey and the Capital District of New York State.

For our Union, and our members, we find ourselves in the midst of what are undoubtedly the darkest days in the 82-year history of our Union. Our industry is almost entirely closed down, something that has never happened before — not during the Great Depression of the 1930s, not during the world wars, and not after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. What to Expect as New York City’s Private Clubs Reopen
New York’s clubs, hotels, and casinos have started to reopen their doors. All but two clubs have reopened. The Princeton Club, which is one of the clubs currently closed, will reopen on July 7th. While the clubs will likely not return to pre-pandemic business for many months, the outlook for the industry is generally encouraging. Read more...

On August 26, 2020, players on the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks refused to play in an important playoff game in response to the police shooting of an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake, on Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The strike garnered national attention and shows the immense power that workers can have when they are united and demand change. Read more...
