Tuesday’s primary election in New York was one of the most unusual elections many of us have experienced in our lifetimes, and I’m proud to report that our Union yet again played an outsized role in some of the most important races that were held.
The coronavirus pandemic has been, without a doubt, the most difficult challenge our union and its members have ever faced. The Union’s leadership and staff have risen to this challenge by identifying and making every possible effort we can take to address the hardships our members face. HTC supports 32BJ at rally for fair contract
On April 2nd, nearly 600 HTC members marched up Park Avenue with several other unions to show solidarity with 32BJ and their demand for a fair contract. The property service union’s contract expires on April 20th. With 32BJ's 70,000 NYC members facing increasing costs of living, the new contract would ensure that these union members will continue to provide for their families.

Let’s Look at the Issues
A recent study by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) contains some alarming news about working families and bank accounts. Among other results, the study revealed that almost one-third of all households in the U.S. do not have a savings account, 10 percent of all U.S. households do not have a checking account and more than 10 million American households have no bank account(s) at all. People who participated in a similar study said that the major reason for this unfortunate situation is the high fees that banks can charge account holders. But the truth is that fees can run even higher if you don’t have a bank account.
