Let’s Look At The Issues

Two years ago, the state of California was close to being declared a national disaster area. Governor Arnold Schwarzennegger had left the state with a staggering $28 billion budget deficit. Unemployment was in double digit territory. Air quality in the southern part of the state was so bad it led David Letterman to say, “Fall is my favorite season in Los Angeles, watching the birds change color and fall from the trees.”

The unions representing state workers are no longer allowed to bargain for wages and other items as a result of legislation passed by Walker and the Republican-controlled Wisconsin state legislature.

The recent Tea Party-led shutdown of the federal government and near default on U.S. debt threatened never-seen-before economic chaos. That’s why it is especially important for everyone to remember that the recent actions in Congress to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling are temporary.
