Applications Now Being Accepted for Vito J. Pitta Scholarships
In society where income is often tied directly to education, no one can deny the value of a college education. As an example, several government studies have revealed that college graduates under 30 years of age have a much lower unemployment rate than high school graduates in that same age group.
$408,000 in Scholarships Awarded to 34 High School Seniors
It was a day of celebration on June 21, when 34 children of our union’s members were awarded a total of $408,000 in college scholarships. It was by far the largest amount of money ever awarded in a single year since the program’s inception in 1987. To date, the scholarship program has now awarded a total of $8,768,000 in grants to 1,080 students. It is money well spent. Past surveys have revealed that the program has had an outstanding record of success — virtually all previous recipients finished college or graduate school or are still pursuing their education.
Mario Gabelli Donates Additional $100,000 for This Year's Scholarships!
In February, Mario Gabelli contacted our Union to ask how the union's scholarship program was doing in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Mr. Gabelli donated an additional $100,000 for this year's awards. To date, he has contributed a total of $451,000 to HTC's scholarship fund! Read more...

The Vito J. Pitta Scholarship program and the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council Division A Scholarship program are now accepting applications for the 2025 competitions.
Since the start of the Union’s scholarship program over 39 years ago, it has provided over 1,170 of our members’ children with the financial support necessary to pursue their dreams of a college education.
Scholarship winners receive awards of $12,000 apiece, paid in increments of $3,000 for each of the four years of college. Last year, $432,000 was awarded to 36 talented high school seniors, bringing the program’s total grants to over $10.4 million. Read more...
