NYC Department of Education lending iPads to students in need

To help students stay connected during this crisis and participate in remote learning while New York City public schools remain closed, the NYC Department of Education is lending iPads with internet connection to students in need.

To request a device, call the DOE at (718) 935-5100 and choose option 5 or request a form online at: https://coronavirus.schools.nyc/RemoteLearningDevices. If you submit a request by April 23 you are guaranteed to get the device by the end of the month. If you request after April 23, you will still get a device, just not by end of month.

We know that there are school children that are homeless that definitely need these devices. We wanted to let our members know in case any of you are in a situation where you do not otherwise have any technology at home for your children to use for their education.

If you are at home with your children and looking for ways to keep them busy and engaged, we have put together a list of free educational resources available online during the crisis: https://hotelworkers.org/covid19/resources-for-parents.
