NY Takes Steps to Bring Table Games to NYC

Hotel Voice, Winter 2022

New York Governor Kathy Hochul is advocating to speed up table games licenses for three casinos in the New York City region as part of her 2022 budget proposal. The move could potentially provide thousands of new job opportunities for laid-off hotel workers in the City.

To prepare, this January, HTC President Rich Maroko met with the trustees of the Industry Training Program and convinced them to fund free dealer training courses for our members. In order to work as a table games dealer in New York, an individual needs to obtain a state-issued license, which requires completing a training course (typically lasting 4-12 weeks) and then passing a dealer audition.

Once details regarding the training program are finalized, you will be able to find information on the course and how to enroll on our website at hotelworkers.org
