New Jersey Residents: You May Be Eligible for Up to $1,500 through the State!
New Jersey residents can now apply for up to $1,500 from the State’s ANCHOR program. ANCHOR, “Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters,” is a state program designed to provide relief against increasing property taxes and rents. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible, a person must have had their primary residence in New Jersey in 2019 (the application asks where a resident lived on October 1, 2019) and have earned less than $250,000 (homeowners) or $150,000 (renters) in 2019. The benefit will be paid as follows:
• $450 benefit to any renter who made $150,000 or less in 2019
• $1,500 benefit to any homeowner who made $150,000 or less in 2019
• $1,000 benefit to any homeowner who made more than $150,000 and up to $250,000 in 2019

THE APPLICATION ASKS FOR:
Basic information about a resident’s housing and income in 2019;
• A Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN);
• Homeowners only: ID and PIN (This can be found on your mailer or by calling the ANCHOR hotline at 1-888-238-1233)
• Homeowners only: If you co-own a home with a spouse or someone else, the co-owner’s information will need to be part of your application as well. (Renters do not need to provide any information about their roommates or landlord.)
UPCOMING DEADLINES:
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, January 31, 2023. The benefit will be paid to residents by check (by mail or direct deposit), with payments scheduled to go out in Spring 2023, but no later than May 2023. This benefit is not given automatically: New Jersey residents must apply in order to receive the benefit.
