For 80 years, our members have spoken out again and again against abuses of power, discrimination, and disrespect. Thousands of you have stood beside a coworker who has been treated unfairly by a manager, walked a picket line to fight for someone who wants to provide a better life for their family, and packed city hall to advocate for laws that will protect our communities.
Well, this election is another moment when we must band together and act for the greater good.
Our choice for President
It shouldn't surprise anyone that our Union supports the re-election of Barack Obama. He was elected President in 2008 with massive support from unions.
Our 2016 Writing Contest Awards
This year marks the 14th anniversary of the Union’s annual writing contest for high school students and the competition grows more popular each year. For the 2016 edition of the contest, almost 300 entries were submitted.

The Union’s writing contest is an annual competition that awards cash prizes and bragging rights to high school students whose parents are members of the Hotel Trades Council and/or Local 6. Since its inception, the contest has revealed that there are many talented and intelligent young adults in our union’s family. The 2019 contest was no different. Like its predecessors, this year’s writing competition provided solid evidence that there are a lot of bright and creative students in grades 10 through 12.
20 Years and Still Going Strong – the Union’s Writing Contest of 2022 Offers Cash Prizes to High School Students
Calling all budding writers and journalists! The Union is proud to announce the commencement of the 20th Anniversary of the annual Writing Contest. The rules of the contest have remained unchanged from previous years. Entries can be submitted by children and eligible dependents of Hotel and Gaming Trades Council and/or Local 6 members, who are high school students in grades 10, 11 or 12. Congress passes new stimulus package

On December 21st, Congress passed its first stimulus package since the Spring, which includes 11 weeks of $300 supplemental unemployment benefits, a second round of direct payments to most Americans, and an extension of the federal eviction moratorium until January 31st.
