After delighting New Yorkers and tourists alike for more than three decades, the most famous restaurant in the world, Tavern on the Green, shut down after one last great night on New Year's Eve. The glitz and glamour of Tavern became legendary under the ownership of the Leroy family. But it was the staff that did as much as anyone to help make it a successful and renowned establishment. The country's highest-grossing restaurant employed 400 members of our Union, including those seen here in photos taken New Year's Eve by HEAT Supervisor Jessica Edwards. The Union salutes the Tavern employees on a job well done and looks forward to representing them at the restaurant when it reopens. Additional photos of Tavern employees, taken by Local 6 member Eric K. Washington, can be found here.
