Tavern on the Green meeting held

 

The Union held a meeting with Tavern on the Green strike captains last week to answer questions and provide an update. The meeting, seen here, was chaired by Local 6 President Michael Simo. Hotel Trades Council President Peter Ward and Attorney Barry Saltzman were also on hand to answer questions.

Ward reported that talks are taking place with Dean Poll, who was awarded the right to negotiate a lease for Tavern on the Green, and explained that city representatives overseeing the talks had asked both parties to refrain from commenting. Ward said the Union would continue to respect that request but he promised that he would advise members from Tavern as soon as the talks reach any conclusion. Ward made it clear that the Union will take whatever steps are necessary to return the Tavern workers to their jobs when the Central Park restaurant reopens.
