Photographer Dan Miller Honored

Last week’s Hotel Voice featured a number of photos from the Civil Rights era, along with an article that detailed the commitment to human rights that the Union has had since it was born, in 1938. The article also pointed out the strong ties between the human rights movement and unions, noting that their goals are one and the same. One of the people who knows this well is Dan Miller, the father of both Local 6 Vice President Steve Miller and Jack Miller, who is himself a photographer whose photos often appear in Hotel Voice, including some that are in this edition. Dan Miller is seen here, receiving a well-deserved honor from 1199 SEIU for his historic photography work during the Civil Rights era, including his well-known pictures of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Hotel Voice joins in saluting Dan Miller on receiving this award and thanking him for the many great photos he has taken over the years that have the graced the pages of this publication. Congratulations, Dan!
