Paid sick leave comes to New York City

August 8, 2014 9:40 AM

After July 30, New York City employees working for a company with at least five employees will have access to earned sick time. The bill was signed into law in March by Mayor Bill de Blasio and gained the plaudits of progressive leaders such as City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito. Those eligible for the benefit will receive one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
