NY Carwash ‘Kingpin’ Must Negotiate With Employees

Workers in New York's notoriously abusive and underpaid car wash industry have been fighting to unionize as part of the WASH NY campaign. Supported by community and labor groups across the City, the Wash NY campaign has helped workers at a number of locations owned by carwash "kingpin" John Lage organize to join the Retail, Wholesale Department Store Union. According to organizers familiar with negotiations, John Lage is negotiating in bad faith. A rally was held on July 14th in front of Lage's Bronx carwash. Local clergy and community members joined workers to call on the carwash "kingpin" to negotiate with the workers and their union in good faith. Read more about their effort here:
