Mark Levine, a Pro-Union Candidate for Manhattan Borough President
Our Union is happy to announce our support of Mark Levine for Manhattan Borough President. Throughout his career he has proven himself to be an unwavering advocate for the workers of New York.
“Mark Levine has an outstanding record of supporting labor through good times and bad,” said HTC President Rich Maroko upon announcing our endorsement, “Mark has been a staunch defender of New York City’s essential workers, including last year when he pushed forward a bill to provide job security for hospitality workers when their hotels are sold.”
Mark has dedicated much of his two terms as the City Council Member for District 7 pushing for legislation to support workers, expanding rights for tenants facing eviction, and fighting against inequality, most recently with regard to unequal vaccine access.
Our Union is not alone in backing Mark for Borough President; we are joined by local unions DC-37, NYSNA, 32BJ SEIU.
“A strong labor movement is essential to building a strong economy,” Mark Levine told the press upon receiving HTC’s endorsement, “Every New Yorker should have the opportunity to join a labor union and experience the power of a collective bargaining agreement and collective action.”
If elected, Mark has committed to focusing on helping the city recuperate from the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring a fair recovery for workers – including hotel workers.
“Hotel workers are an essential part of our economy, and we need to do everything we can to ensure that they are working, that our hotels are full, and that our economy is healthy,” Levine remarked.
