HTC Member Denise Matthews is one of over 1,000 members who was recalled to work at her union job as a result of new legislation requiring New York City hotels with 100 or more rooms to reopen by November 1st or pay severance to laid off workers. Just two weeks after the bill was first signed, a third of the closed, union hotels covered by the legislation have announced reopening dates.

Matthews, a Front Desk Agent at the Grand Hyatt New York for 24 years, told NY1, “Once I heard about this bill I had excitement that something was going to happen and it did. I got called back yesterday to work.”
